KUCHING, April 19, 2015: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem described two motions raised by an Independent assemblyman as “stupid” and said they should be rejected at the State Legislative Assembly, which is sitting from this Tuesday.

“It is a stupid motion,” Adenan said, on the call for him to be known as “Prime Minister of Sarawak”.
The motion was raised by independent Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck, which includes changing the State Legislative Assembly to the “Sarawak Parliament”.

“We believe this motion is a political ploy. This is just raised for publicity sake,” Adenan said.

On Fong’s third motion, which is the proposal for a “Referendum Act” (for Sarawak to leave Malaysia), Adenan said the matter was academic.

“I believe this matter need not be discussed any more,” said Adenan after chairing a meeting of the PBB and state BN Supreme Council at PBB headquarters in Jalan Bako here.

Fong, who was formerly with DAP, was expelled in 2013, leading him to become an Independent representative.

Meanwhile, Adenan said the state BN was ready to face all the challenges from the Opposition and had several surprises to hit them back.

“Not only can we reply to matters they have raised, we also have all the answers for them,” said Adenan.

The seven-day state legislative assembly, from April 21-29, will see the tabling of the new Forestry Bill, which will carry heavier penalties for illegal logging activities in the state.

Speaker Datuk Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar said his office had received a total of 335 questions from the 39 elected representatives for this session.
